USPTO challenges a China IP firm for false information in trademark applications

On June 8, 2021, the USPTO issued an Order to Show Cause to Chinese Intellectual Property Law Firm Shenzhen Huanyee Intellectual Property Co., Ltd. concerning its behavior in over 8,000 U.S. trademark applications.

Among the allegations are that Huanyee IP engaged in the unauthorized practice of law before the USPTO, improperly entered the signatures of others on forms, and provided false information in trademark applications. As a result, the USPTO is threatening to sanction the law firm, and importantly, cancel all the trademark applications filed by Huanyee IP.
