Swiss National Day

Today, on Swiss National Day, flags representing the country and all its different communities and cantons are raised everywhere.

Amazingly, it took over 700 years before the Holiday, which has 4 official names (German, French, Italian and Romansh), was officially established as a public Holiday in 1994.

The iconic Matterhorn in the photo with it's almost perfect pyramid shape towers at the border of Switzerland and Italy.
