Plant based proteins


There was an article about gorse bushes being a potential source of plant based proteins (see Guardian article). Gorse bushes are spiny evergreen shrubs that are members of the pea family. These bushes reportedly contain about 17% protein, which means that you can produce 1 kg of protein isolate for about 4.5 to 6 kg of CO2, compared to approximately 102kg of CO2 for 1 kg of meat.
